  • When I go for a 50 mile ride I might inhale once or twice, maybe open my eyes at the top of hills.

If I see any children or dead badgers I sometimes take a small nibble.

Anything else is surplus to requirements.

  • And no wee stops.

  • Tesco Eccles Cakes.

  • I get all the nutrients I need from chewing my stem.

  • ^ euph?

  • Sounds like some sort of wonder drug.

In the pouring rain. Could see my breath at the top. Fingers and toes frozen on the way down.
    Great ride!

  • Glad to hear you're on the mend pascalo.

This was yesterday's Worthing Winter Warmer audax. Average temperature -2.1, started off at -10. Brrr. Nice sunny day for it though.

    More in the audax thread.

  • Thanks man. So am I. That ride was as much a test of what my back would cope with as anything else.
I think I will do much more riding now that I know I can. The climbs around Adelaide are awesome, and I'll probably need to get used to the heat that will come on in the next couple of weeks.

You can cut those garmin things into different parts with, if I remember correctly, the Training Centre software they have. I had to do the same for the dunwich dynamo GPS track once, and it worked fine.

  • Hmm, I couldn't work out how to get Training Centre to do that. Any ideas on what else I could use?

I exported the activity as a tcx, manually edited it and re-uploaded it to Garmin Connect, but although I'd snipped the train journey off and the ride back from Victoria the stats didn't change, so I've uploaded it to ridewithgps which seems to have ended up with everything right, although I've lost the temperature info of course.

  • Wish I'd gone out Saturday.......just had a cccccold 2 hours in Bedgebury Forest.......stopped for a chat and got soooooo cold I couldnt get going again....miserable me

  • No westerly wind so the perfect day to ride Manchester to Liverpool along the Trans Pennine Trail (NCN62). Cyclestreets had said it would be about 60km, was infact 75km, no detours. Nice route, if mostly uninspiring.

  • Ain't been out on a trundle proper for about three weeks due to work and I'm feeling decidedly sqidgy of brain and body. Got another month of this nonsense ahead of me. I'll go nuts if I don't get some air in my lungs soon.

  • Did the Edgware RC Reliability Trial today, 100km through Bucks and Beds. They've had a mixed turnout for the Chiltern Classics series. Apparently something like 300 turned up for the Harp Hilly, but last weeks got canceled. Around 20 turned up today. Ice on the roads was pretty sketchy for the first hour or two, but conditions were more or less fine once it thawed. Bit foggy in places, particular over the one serious hill, Ivinghoe Beacon.

Roads I didn't know, but all at Edgware RC very welcoming. Would recommend the series if anyone is free the next couple of Sundays. I was slower than most, but there were groups to suit all paces.

  • Bailed on the idea of riding on the thawing ice and settled in for a two-hour turbo session. C'mon, weather, I need to get out more.

give me a nudge when you're going out again. I've avoided it recently because of the ice but am iching to get some miles in away from the turbo trainer.

  • I did 55 miles solo today, 48x19 on a new route.

    • Shirehorses
    • Roman Roads
    • Snow
    • Brain Freeze
  • kudos to anyone who's made it out for a proper ride in the last couple of weekends. i managed an hour of loops around regent's park on saturday before i decided frostbite was becoming too much of a reality. kentish killer next weekend will be interesting... wish i had a turbo dammit

  • I nearly put the bike away until spring today. My hands are still numb and we didn't even get out of town!

  • Is it a weekend ride before one goes to work on a monday? Couldn't sleep this morning, so I set off at 6.30 to do it again. Weather was much nicer, very lonely it is up there at this time of the morning. Also I went the same way back down and have taken some pix for your enjoyment.

  • I popped my head out to check the weather at 6:30am on Saturday morning and I thought my face was going to fall off. It was 8° below.

    :]

You're a lucky fella pascalo. Enjoy!

  • Quite warm in N.West. +3 deg today.

Was v.comfortable in just merino layer & jacket, jeans, bamboo cotton socks, then merino inners and thin full finger outer gloves.

    Roll on Winter..

Yeah man, let's take that yellow Pin of yours out for some proper miles soon. I'm pretty much stuck at work 24 7 for the next month though.

Weather wise, for sure. Spinal health wise, not so much :(

  • Lovely ride at the weekend;

    http://connect.garmin.com/activity/148712920

Knee started to hurt during the ride though so I'm reassessing my position the bike, could be down to the fact my saddle was sagging (new one ordered)

Also I didn't feel like I had much in the tank on the bike, during the ride I drank though 2 bottles of water (one with viper active) 1 banana and a yoghurt bar. Had porridge for breakfast and a sandwich before I left. I really need to look in to that I think, although it could be down to the fact it was bloody freezing last weekend and my body was working hard to keep warm too.

During the Dunwich Dynamo last year I ate a lot, so starting to think I'll be one of the people that has to eat a lot more when I'm cycling, at least whilst I'm building up my fitness riding longer distances.
