Pretty easy to stand it off, just use longer fasteners.
If fixing into plasterboard you could use plasterboard anchors to attach a disc of (probably) wood to the wall, then fix the Cycloc onto/through that.
If doing that I'd paint the disc of standoff material to match the wall, I reckon it would be very hard to spot.
I've been playing with my Cycloc today- I may look at making it do duty as both a bike holder and a lumiere.
