Noel Gallagher's latest rag-tag collection of third-rate buskers have an album out which, from hearing on the TV, has a lyric - 'If I had a gun, I'd shoot a hole into the sun'.

Why should we tolerate this abject crap?

We shouldn't, obviously. As so many pop lyrics are crap, there would be plenty that could be cited here, and while the absence of better material is of course a great pity, the only strategy that works is to try to ignore most of it. Life's too short to get annoyed about all its crap lyrics.
