2012-02-09 21:45 - Rider Down, Green Lanes - witnesses needed

Nick von Fiction, some of you might know him, just got taken out by a hit and run driver. Witnesses would be useful.

Cyclist travelling north along green lanes, at the junction where the Brownswood Park Tavern is - car turning right across into Brownswood Rd going towards Finsbury Park into path of cyclist and bam.

Car, a VW, posibly a Sirocco, pulled over just afterwards, but then fucked off immediately afterwards while Nick's still in the road. If you noticed a VW car with damage to its front quarter, that could be it.

It's the night where the snow just started falling again so if you're reading this later that should jog your memory. Post here or PM me or Nick if you habve anything, his bike is totalled and while he seems OK, it's no fun being taken out by a fucking hit and run driver.

I'm pretty sure there is CCTV at that junction as it is busy-if you look at streetview there seems to be a camera just past the bus stop on the left before Lorship Park and another as you come into brownswood mounted on the traffic light. Failing that the pub might have a couple over the doors or the bookies even. Might not catch the incident itself but all you need is a 1 sec glimpse of the car and bingo... Good luck and heal up Nick.

Unfortunately not sure on that one - Nick's a glasses wearer and when the car drove off, he was sat in the middle of the road with a fucked bike and his glasses on the other side of the road.

My timing is fucking ace. This was the only time in about three years I was not wearing contact lenses to ride. Plus my bike cam is out of action as the bracket broke, and when I ordered a new one, they sent the wrong one, otherwise I'd be cool for onboard visuals.
Anyway, went to a&e, been to the cops, following up CCTV at the pub and on a bus that was stopped at the traffic lights. It's brusing all the way by the looks of it, so that's a relief, and I was on the beater, but I am well fucked off with the kind of cunt that does a runner when you've not even moved from the deck. If I'd got up on the count of one, done a jig and given the thumbs up, that would be one thing, but nah. Motherfucker.

Fuck I was 100m up the road when this happened leaving the climbing wall. Hope he's ok and he catches the driver. Thoughts with him
