So I need a new project to keep me occupied then I saw the listing with its rather poor photos and thought i'd take a punt, this is what the seller put up as a photo:
I won it by fluke as no one else bid and i'd only bid the minimum price, which was the princely sum of £40 (+£24 p&p). That £24 bought me the highest quality of shipping:
cling film and newspaper, both highly renowned bike protect devices. Luckily it survived its trip from france to me unscathed.
and this is what it looked like when i unwrapped it and took a photo with proper lighting:
quite a difference no?
I do currently have a road bike which i dont use mostly because i've never quite got the fit right but also because i dont like the look of it (shallow I know). So i need to get that sold so i can start the build of this. Once that's gone it means i'll have now Alu bikes left and my entire collection will be steel.
I'm thinking of building it with 9/10 speed non-carbon campagnolo. Not sure what i'm going to do for wheels yet, if i can get some cheap hubs i'll build them myself.
I know jack-shit about campag stuff so i really need to read up on compatibility of parts, as it'd be quite nice to save a bit of cash by older stuff and bodging it up to 10 speed.
I added the very first part today, the seat post bolt, i'm sure you can survive with out seeing a photo of that though.
Hopefully this will prove to be an interesting build.
