I'm trying to resist the urge to spend the day digging out my old DMC VHS collection and rewatching them all.

^^^^^ When I was a kid it was on a loop at the National Museum Photography in Bradford. Watched it loads of times, transfixed.

Yes! It was in the Kodak gallery. Amazing film. Love the NMFPT (now NMM?). Pictureville is one of my favourite cinemas too. Saw the new print of 2001: A Space Odyssey on Cinerama there.. and so many other awesome things.. Rolling Stones on the IMAX.. Great memories. Have to visit next time I'm up there. Karachi round the corner for an epic win of an Indian too.

Having never tampered with vinyl, how do they find the exact spot without headphones? Are the grooves that distinguishable? Or do they mark the record to a pre-determined spot?

They put a small dot on the disc. In the vid nuknow posted you can see a few white dots on the disc.

Does he also have one 7 inch single sitting on top of a 12 inch in the video that nuknow posted?

You'd scratch tiny crosses with a compass.

Just finished watching the last of Norma Percy's four part series on BBC2: Putin, Russia and the West, and thought it one of the most fascinating documentaries the BBC have put out since Adam Curtis' last excursion.
Highly recommend watching it whilst its available on the iplayer:

Watched every episode so far, just got the last one ready to watch on the iPlayer. Hopefully it might teach me something about the world

Best bit was when Putin asks for his pen back.
He likes his pens like he likes his oil: in his pocket.

Not sure if win/fail/wtf but I'm happy with his extraordinary list of demands living here.

Brief extract:
If I am quite sleepy, I would like two cans or small bottles of non-diet Pepsi. (I dislike the taste of coke, and of all diet soda; also, there is an international boycott of the Coca Cola company for killing union organizers in Colombia and Guatemala; see killercoke.org.) However, if I am not very sleepy, I won't want Pepsi, because it is better if I don't drink so much sugar.

It's honestly worth reading through. Such a surreal rambling/covering every possible eventuality email.

A supply of tea with milk and sugar would be nice. If it is tea I
really like, I like it without milk and sugar. With milk and sugar,
any kind of tea is fine. I always bring tea bags with me, so if we
use my tea bags, I will certainly like that tea without milk or sugar.Genius.
