Like 1 rep per scene, but the london reps vote would carry, say, 5 times the weight of a manc one, if you've got 5 times the players
i like this.
Jono, i am not kidding, or looking for London to "control" the UKHBPA, just looking to have an accurate representation.

If london is to be split north and south for regional tourneys does it not make sense to have a north and south rep? dont know much about the scene there outside of forum but is there much difference? other than the smack talk on here ;)

London : ~150 players
Cambridge : ~20 players
Brighton : ~20 players
Birmingham : ~20 players
Manchester : ~20 players
Bristol : ~20 players
Edinburgh : ~15 players
Newcastle : ~15 players
Cardiff : ~15 players
Sheffield : ~10 players
Frome : ~10 players
Canterbury : ~10 playersTotal : ~325 players
London would need just under half the spots and would pretty much "own" the UKHBPA to have accurate representation. I see your point, but I think this is a great opportunity for the rest of the UK to step up and for London to take a back seat.

Maybe one representative but with more acknowledged gravitas would work. It depends on London finding consensus on decisions i guess. If you had a rep per court/borough/scene it might be easier ? ( Not sure how many that would be)

150 players, really?

150+ players to date. 60+ regular players? 20+ female players. Bike polo being taught in schools (and to toddlers in Penge). Winter League. Two Beginner scenes. 70 LHBPA members. Rollapaluza polo coming soon. West London polo coming soon. HH polo coming soon. Three annual tournaments. Started the Euros. Wrote the rulebook. Blah.
Most importantly: We've never won a major international tournament, oh.

Rollapaluza polo coming soon.
make sure that they dont buy up various versions of londonbikepolo.com, lhbpa.com, .org etc and link it to their websites.

Total number-to-date warps the statistics a bit as London has had significantly longer to establish itself so has a larger pool of people who have came and gone.
I mean, Edinburgh can claim 30+ players if you count the occasional players, but I don't think it really gives a true representation of our really rather small feeling scene. We have 3 female players too and an up and coming day of polo in one of the local schools.
Should london not look more like this?
London : ~60 players
Cambridge : ~20 players
Brighton : ~20 players
Birmingham : ~20 players
Manchester : ~20 players
Bristol : ~20 players
Edinburgh : ~15 players
Newcastle : ~15 players
Cardiff : ~15 players
Sheffield : ~10 players
Frome : ~10 players
Canterbury : ~10 playersTotal : ~215 players
I have no problem in principle with any sort of weighted voting system, but I would be curious to where the figures would come from? It'd be a deal-breaker.

Cool, I'm not disputing any of that. I'm just use to seeing an average of 5 LDN teams per tourney. Isn't it more realistic to say you've got about 40 regular players? Awesome that you've got so many non playing members though.

Same here. I know LDN is a big scene but 150? Come on. Are you counting people like Mike (tramps) in that list? ;)

18 regular league teams = 54 players
subs and regular non league players= 20
beginners consistently coming through=10make that a good estimate of 84 regular players then, plenty more occasionals
Awesome that you've got so many non playing members though.

That was a genuine comment Ben. I do think its good to have non playing members.

This does underline how hard working out some kind of 'representation' is.
Much easier to say one town/city one rep.

A thing which I've been wondering about, if the UKHBPA is formed, where would this leave the LHBPA? I mean would you have one larger and more organised group deferring itself to smaller and (atleast at first) less organised one? Would tournaments in the rest of the UK have one ruleset but london tournaments would have a london ruleset?
Just trying to figure out where one association ends and the other begins?
What benefits does the UKHBPA bring? I mean, what is its purpose? is it just going to be a vehicle for the decisions relating to rules for NS tournaments? Could we not just get an NS series rules commitee? Same end, but without all the politics of LHBPA, UKHBPA treading on each others toes?
If there are notable benefits to the UKHBPA would it not be an easier solution to just widen the remit of the LHBPA and a quick and dirty rename? Would be interested in hearing the input of some of the londoners to this.

Write what you want the OP to read and i'll change it
"UKHBPA - A chance to bring all of the UK together and help the UK scene to improve.
if you do not have a rep for your city or do not see your city on the list please add to it. (list will not be updated on OP)
this is so as a group we can have meetings and talk about things that are of concern (eg rules, reffing situations, tournaments and so on)"
thanks max

I guess it's all coming from the thought that I can't see it working particularly well in a sport as SMALL as this, to have one UK body and one Regional body of similar size, what happens in disagreements between them?
would you have one larger and more organised group deferring itself to smaller and (atleast at first) less organised one?
londoners?
