I've used the Topeak ones for years, sounds like you overtightened it.
I have the ones you've liked to. Just like a normal valve extension but permanent. You may struggle to get the valve core out if it's inside the rim.

I've got a Continental one on my Vento.. always worked well. Pretty sure it was 2 for a fiver or something similar

PBK sent me a new one today...seems to have done the trick but even with a bit of electrical tape around the valve there's still air leaking out once I get over 100psi.
This a common issue with all extenders?
Does anyone have a recommendation for a valve extender for tubs already mounted to the wheel?
I've just tried the topeak one but the threads stripped instantly. Pretty annoyed so wondering what other people use?
I could potentially remove the core with some long nose pliers so is it worth trying these http://totalcycling.com/a-z/pumps/pump_spares/VE_DEDA_TRE.html ?
