  • Not sure I trust the cycling calorie stats either, as my cycle computer reckons I burn half as much on my commute than my fitness pal.

    Calorie counters aren't perfect but helped educate me on the basics: I'm better off commuting by bike every day than nailing 100km at the weekend, exercise doesn't entitle me to a take-away pizza and a four-pack and fresh veg is the key. Usually a few 100 calories down each week but not losing much weight, which I put down to muscle growth : )
