For Sale: Geoff Roberts Racing BIke

  • Its with a heavy heart I am selling my Roberts, I've had her for a little over a year now and she's done me well. But with a little one on the way I've got exciting things like prams (& balance bikes) to pay for!

1989 Geoff Roberts Frame & fork (57cm), full reynolds 531 tubing, cinelli BB and columbus dropouts.
    Cinelli stem, 95mm, polished.
    Cinelli Criterium bars
    Campagnolo Chorus 7 speed groupset
172.5mm crankset, 52/42t rings up front, thread on freewheel cassette 14/28t
Campagnolo 36h hubs on Mavic MA40 rims, DT spokes, Michelin Krylion carbon tyres
    Campagnolo Aero post
    Selle Italia XO saddle
    Christophe pedals/clips/straps
    Stronglight headset

Think thats pretty much it spec-wise, I also have a Sachs Malliard 16/28 freewheel that will come with it.
She's in great condition considering the age, few small chips here and there and some patches where the tyres have rubbed on the frame and taken the paint off (were there when I got it and not visible with the wheels in).
As with most Campag groups, its been faultless and has never missed a beat shift wise.
Truly sad to see her go, and know she'll last forever if looked after well.

    Looking for £700 o.n.o.

Bike is located in Chichester, west sussex. Though posting is no problem as long as costs are covered. Could also arranged to meet guildford/woking way if needed!
Payment via paypal/bank transfer/cash on collection.

    Thanks for looking

  • That is a really lovely bike James. Is it 57 c-c or c-t?
    Someone should buy it.

  • Thanks mate, its going to be hard to see her go, just hoping she'll find a good home through here!
Its 57cm from centre bb to top of seat tube, I'm just over 6' and it fits me fine how its set up in the pics.

  • nice, just on the small side for me.

  • I think 700 is ambitious. I think you could buy similar parts for around 4-500.

  • If you want to source all the parts separately, good luck to you :)
I am open to reasonable offers though!

  • I think it's worth a bit more than 4-500 to be honest, I love the colour scheme, best of luck with the sale.

  • it is nice... but...went for £270 odd about 18 months ago on ebay. i remember clearly cos i was outbid by two pounds and i was angry about it for a whole week..

    frame or complete?

  • Are they not 8 speed ergo levers?

  • Damn, wish I'd got it for that price.... Whoever got it for that was a lucky man!

  • frame or complete?

whole bike. it was freakishly cheap, admittedly, and when it came back up it sold for quite a bit more (presumably to jimmybloom)

  • And I thought I got a bargain when I bought it! Might just keep it, don't think the mrs would even notice!!
They might be 8 speed, but only had them running 7, can't remember checking when I changed the cables last.

  • They very much look like 8 speed, same as my Chorus Carbons... Just let out the cable to the rear d and you'll find it has 7 clicks either way. The left will do a triple also as it has multiple trim positions (around 5 or 6 from memory)
Nice bike btw :) You also might want to mention it is 531 Super Tourist tubing.

  • Damn, wish I'd got it for that price.... Whoever got it for that was a lucky man!

    I smell a rat.

  • I only said that because I'm 99% sure there aren't any 7 speed Chorus ergos, only 8 speed,

  • Good spot that man, they are 8 speed....though there isn't an room on the rear for an
8 speed freewheel, unless you got a longer axle for it... Or a new hub!
