• Has anyone got a time for Friday? I have told a few people about it and they are all saying what time.

After work, which for a courier is usually between 6 & 7pm.We'll hope to set off just after 7.

  • Thanks I thought that would be the case

  • DAMN! It makes my skin crawl to hear this. Just goes to show, IT DOESNT MATTER HOW GOOD YOU ARE or how good you THINK you are, sudden death or being maimed for life can snatch you off your machine quicker than you say fixie. Henry was probably the most experienced/exemplary courier in London, if not Europe, It's because of this that as a father of 2 I've stopped riding in London

    +1

I saw Henry a lot in the City - this is shocking/very hard to get my head around..

Thoughts & prayers to Henry, family & friends

  • My thoughts are with the family and friends. Sincere condolences for your loss.

Shallow and self-centred it might be, but this has affected me personally - I use that junction and for someone so experienced to be mown down is chilling.

  • oh shiiit- this really grieves me

  • RIP
I'll try to make it down on friday.

  • Man, I thought i recognised the bike, just very unexpected even thought I only exchange a few words with him.

Just what they meant by "after work" I have no idea, 5pm? 6? 8?

  • Just saw this thread come up through Twitter.
    A terrible loss.
    RIP

  • I heard the news a few days ago but I couldn't put a face to the name. And now that I can it's come as a bit of a shock. Used to see him about a fair bit and iirc once brought me a pint at the Foundry. Rip Henry.

    You left out 7.

  • More bad news. The BBC's Tom Edwards just tweeted this:

A cyclist's died after colliding with a car door in on Upper Elms St, Beckenham on Saturday pm. Police appealing for witnesses 02082851574

  • RIP Henry :(

  • More bad news. The BBC's Tom Edwards just tweeted this:

I've started a thread for this rider, James Darby, to help keep track.
That's two fatal accidents, less than one month apart.

  • They normally come in clusters* (think of Ephraim & Chewy, hit one after the other, or the two females killed within 24 hours (Rosie & Madeleine)). The average per year has dropped from high 20s in late 80s, to well under 20 per year since 2000.

  • RIP Henry
Unfortunately never got to meet him. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
Will try and make the ride on friday.

average may have dropped under 20 per year but 1 is still too many.

  • RIP Henry
    Deeply saddened by the tragedy.
    Condolences to family and friends.

  • Just picked up email from Velocio, how many more times will our hearts be broken.
Just such a tragic loss .RIP

  • Same here, just read the email.
My thoughts are with his family and friends.

  • Long life to Henry's family and friends, and everyone out on the road. RIP

  • RIP fella

  • Terrible news RIP

  • Came to know this today.
    Shocking.

I remember helping his rear hub, of which we had a little argument as I was convinced that someone had just stuck a cartridge bearing in his Suzue rear hub....And now this man is gone, and he went in a horrible way!

    Rest in peace Henry
