• A 'good' nib wears itself in and should become easier to use the longer you use it. I am left handed, and overcame the problem of smudging my own letters as I write by adopting a wierd upside down approach, i.e the pen points toward me and my wrist arches around the fresh ink.

    Yeah, some lefties adopted an 'upside down' way of writing early on. effectively writing upside down and backwards - I never got it. I kept pushing my nib, getting ink all over my hands, writing words that couldn't be read and suffering horrible hand cramps.
    Someone once watched me writing and said that I don't write, I draw lines that look a bit like words. That's why I love keyboards.

    Saying that, I do like drawing and I love a proper pencil.
    Anyone tried Staedtler's Wopex pencils yet? REally, really nice:

    They feel really nice and are more resilient to breaking than normal wooden pencils.

    Call me a Luddite, but I still love to draw with this:

    Just feels lovely.
