I am really saddened by this. A waste of a life. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

That junction is very difficult. As a result of major construction work it seems to change all the time. Traffic is frequently confused and in the wrong lane.

Be safe out there.

I rode past the spot yesterday afternoon and stopped to have a moment next to a lamp post dressed with 2 bunches of flowers and a laminated council notice about road works.

Any one who wandered past would have seen a guy sat on a BMX, for an extended period of time, looking at a street light, with misty eyes.

They would not have considered that from my perspective I was saying good bye to a man whom I had never met, yet I feel a deep sense of loss that he died on a road littered with ongoing roadworks that I have traversed countless times. People whom I dearly love ride that road on a daily basis and the thought of hearing that one of them never reached the end of their journey is horrifying.

We are a product of the people we surround ourselves with. Without those relationships, life loses purpose. No person has the right to take that away.

I dearly hope that the people left behind from this terrible, but avoidable incident, can find some way to comfort each other. Your friend, Brother, Son did not deserve to lose his life at such a soulless location.

^^Nice words. It's the familiarity with the roads involved which adds to the shocking nature of these accidents. It really is happening in your/my/our backyard. It bothers me a lot that maybe luck was on my side on any given day on any given road which has kept me out of harms way, luck which hasn't spread itself thickly. It's dreadful to recognise the locations, as they take on a symbolism thereafter than cannot be shaken.

Balls, I recognise him now. He's been at it for years. The lack of accident info post crash is really grating on me now!

I just found out about this through Facebook today, throughly shocked.

Henry was a good dude, gave me a few tips when I was starting out in the messenger biz. I'm sure he is deeply missed and my thoughts are with his family and friends.

he was a very nice fella, riding always very carefully, been in the courier industry over 20+ years.

I used to see him often about town. He seemed fond of McDonald's on Holborn. Very sad indeed.

I think lfgss should join the couriers in marking their respect if they do a ride. So sad.

Put better than I ever could. I think the Ghost Bike idea is a wonderful, respectful one, but there are certain ones that always cause a jolt through me, like Dan's in Hackney. I wouldn't stop riding for the world but I'm increasingly counting my blessings, thinking there but for the grace of god (insert deity of choice) etc :(
