• I'll probably start coming once I get my new bike. Taking some off-time at the moment in the hope my Pompino won't fully break. Can't play Sunday or next Wednesday though.

  • Guys - some of you may know that i am involved with the whole Bike North Birmingham project, and we have a launch event planned for the 11th - 25th April.
If i could secure a decent "court" or playspace, would any of you be up for having a few games amongst yourselves, as a demo thing, but also "coach" a few people who may be up for having a go? It would be for a few hours, maybe on a Sunday to suit all.
The only thing is that it would be Erdington/Sutton Coldfield area...... Just a thought. It would be great to offer a different cycling event, rather than a bloody bike smoothie maker.... whoop-de-do

  • Yeah, we're always up for that kind of thing.

The court is the most important thing - if it's not good it makes polo look a bit shit and consequently spectators don't really get interested. We 'improve' sub-par barriers, but we really need a pretty flat and smooth surface. I'm sure one or more of us can ride up and have a look at any potential court you can find, but you've played a few times, you probably know what we need.

If you can find a really good court, and guarantee exclusive use for a day, we could potentially invite out-of-town teams and have a mini-tournament. Dunno if that's the route you'd want to go down though.

  • That was a "ideal scenario" if i'm honest mate. it would be good to make the most of what we can really, especially as the City Council want to get the most out of this 2 week launch event (and by this, there's money available/resources available)
I'll ask around a few of the locals, and see what feedback i can get.
We have two community cycle hubs that are based at leisure centres, which could give us a good court, but i want to find something that is close to high footfall (thats the difficult part) so that we can attract passers-by.
    I'll keep y'all posted.....

  • Hello all

I have just completed placing an order for 20 perro polo mallet poles. The poles are 7075 aluminium and have been tried and tested on the polo scene as most of you will know.

They have cost me £7.43 a pole. so I am going to say 7.50 a pole I hope that is agreeable to everybody :)

Anyway please put your name down if you want any.

Yesss, this would totally make up for me missing Ladies weekend in Cambridge for our AGM. However, I'm happy to stand aside if those going to Bristol wanna get some practise time in (as I think this would be more beneficial to Birmingham). If not, GTFO I'm going!!
