For Sale: Niel Orrell track bike

  • Hello all

I had this frame custom built by Niel Orrel in Manchester to Manchester Veledrome spec.
Unfortunately due to an accident on my road bike I have had VERY LITTLE use of this lovely machine...its sat under a sheet in the garage which to be honest is a crying shame.
Its pictured with a road wheelset and also has a dia compe clamp on front brake.
It also has a set of unused track wheels with glued on tubs. As I can now only ride my bob jackson with flatties..due to the neck injury...this one has to go :(

I am open to SENSIBLE offers..but wont let her go for anything silly!!!
The frameset alone came in at over 650 with the flamboyant blue enamel and white lug lining.

Pick up would be preferred (Manchester)

    Cheers Folks...wheels keep turnin ;)

You'll need the sizes components and a price

  • Hi Finchy, Awesome looking bike. What is 'Manchester Velodrome spec'? Also what size is the frame?

  • Lovely

  • Interested in the frame if you decide to split and let us know a ball park figure.

Price is advised, not required. But obviously a price would help the sale alot.

  • Derr!!!
    1) the frame size is 55.5 cm square
    2) Manchester spec relates to the bottom bracket hieght which is slightly higher than a 'standard' track bike as the bankings are quite steep at Manchester ..also 165 mm crank as to offer plenty of pedal clearance from the boards.
Ill have to post the rest of the spec sometime tomorrow..bit pushed for time now....sorry wasnt aware of the rules re price..ill have a think and post tomozz
    .....JD...didnt really want to split..sorry

    Cheers people

  • Beauty bump

  • It's not an auction.

    It's a blind auction...

  • to be fair, £650 for that with two sets of wheels is great value! Looks to be in great condition, decent parts, and a fairly unique english handbuilt frame. Will you be including the clamp-on brake?

I've always had a soft spot for those orrell flying gate style bikes. Best of luck with the sale.

  • It is great value, I just don't like the sales technique. Tbh if I was buying rather than selling most of the bike stuff I own, I would have bought it, as it's lovely!

  • qckpct, yes I will be including the dia compe brake. Buckaroo, I posted the figure 'over 650' and invited offers.....wasn't really any 'technique' involved...i just thought it was a pretty fair way to give people the opportunity to make a fair offer. Thanks for the complement on the bike...to be honest ill be gutted when it goes :(

  • I've got an orrell tourer from 1979.... It's nearly mint and is a fantastic piece of kit

I love this, but have not the beans.....
