Indeed, he's real. I inadvertently woke him up by brushing against the small tree in which he was sleeping. He tumbled, fell, and got up, only to conjure his most fearsome posture. Needless to say, it was hard to actually be intimidated, due to the situation, the sleep in his eyes, and his/her diminutive stature.
