  • Some may remember i asked about SPD pedals a few pages back

since that i have been told that mtb shoe's on a road bike are shit compared to road shoe's, which puts me in a spot of bother, basically, i will need to walk around a bit when i ride around on my road bike

some opinions or advice on either would be great, thanks :)

I'm currently running a pair of Shimano MTB M087 shoes (proper XC SPD shoes, but not race stiff) and M540 SPD pedals.
Have run the same pedals in the past with a much stiffer soled set of Specialized shoes (long time ago, can't remember which ones) which I found too stiff to be comfortable if you had much more walking to do than from locking the bike up and changing into work shoes.
But the slightly more flexible and lighter shoes I'm using now are sweet, even some walking is ok, but I still wouldn't take the girlfriend shopping in them though!
Now, I've only ever used MTB SPDs, but I would imagine road shoes on the whole to be less flexible.
Shimano do proper XC super stiff shoes and more recreational usage in their MTB range (including SPD hiking boots and sandles!), so I would also suggest trying them on before buying and think carefully about what use they're gonna realistically get.
