i've had a nice karrimor hot earth i bought in 1991 still perfectly good, using it every day have travelled with it 20 years worth of good times !
Karrimor's owned by SPort Direct now and has been very poor for a long time. Aparently they are starting to get better agian, but I'd steer clear for a while.
