I did this single speed last year and it was fine. Particularly pleased with getting up a few hills that lycra'd, geared types had walked up and getting applause from said types. Not all of them mind but it would prob make very little difference if I was geared/ss/fixed #suckathills
Will be doing it fixed this year fo'shure.
