That was aimed at Bill but works even better for Clive...

You're catching me up. And I am more youthful in spirit.

"A Martini and a medal" as Martin Amis would have it.
After you, old man...
I'll have my Martini with a twist & an olive, cheers Joe. Clive? What you having? Joe's buying.

I went to a night like that once.
Mentally and physically scarred now.

North's Grab-a-Granny night wasn't what I meant, J...

Where are the tags when you need them? This thread has bridge monkey's delight written all over it.

My bad.
I've always had a thing for older women though.

One martini is all right. Two are too many, and three are not enough.
Quite...

hugely admire his epic rides.
Say what you like about Scoble, at least he rides his (constantly changing) bikes. And he does do some genuinely fairly epic rides occasionally (by forum standards).
He may opine left right and centre but at least his perspective isn't that of the 'spend a fortune on bike and bits to ride to the shop/pub and post all over the forum about it' fraternity.

However, once he's done a touring trip or two, he's a freaking expert in ALL things touring.
It's that aspect that is risible.

Joe, you must know the un-PC version the James Thurber quote. I'll pm you so you can post it.

It's the "little bit of knowledge being a dangerous thing" bit...
The rest is just down to personality, and there's always the ignore function for that.

Yes, I agree.
I also agree with Markyboy that the ignore function is the way forward for anyone that bothered ;)

I've replied with my reworking of the classic George Burns' quote...
Happiness is a dry martini and a good woman ... or a bad woman.

In.
*But not by very much.
-
• #320
Ok, who's hosting this? Buying decent martinis out is ruinous, and not as much fun.
-
• #321
Civilised cocktails?
Live it up a little.
-
• #322
In, but not hosting. Let someone else clear up the mess

Er, ever heard of happy hour, Bill?

Yeah, some of us have work, and I'm not going to the Verge or the Perch or whatever it's called.

I don't like this. How are we going to keep the riff-raff out? Birth certificates, please.
After you, old man...
