Don't no any details more than its build by a swedish guy who use to rebuild old frames, some turn out pretty cool!
Do you have a blog link by any chance? Would love to see some more of his work.

Did Ed make this thread?
Just building my ns analog into a road bike rather than a faggy trick bike (I have a bmx for that)
I have no brake mounts and my wheels are disk only.. so im thinking about welding a disk mount on the forks :)

It scores higher than a Cannondale 'Badboy' on the WACometer though. You have to admit.

Should i buy alfine 8 or alfine 11 for touring? i gather the 8 is more robust under torque, but the range on the 11 is much wider.
Will act on uninformed opinion as i have no fucking idea.

Get the 8 and use an alfine tensioner allowing you to run a double up front, problem solved!

go for the 11 speed, apparently they're of a much higher quality. you want something reliable for touring innit. talk to gabes, he runs an alfine hub on his custom ti beast.

Err. Rest of the internetz is saying the opposite... The MTB/Fatbike fraternity is saying the alfine 11 isn't up to scratch. If you're gunna' fork out for 11 man up and get Rolhoff.

Not at all.... I think i will try the 11. I really dont want to run tensioners/mechs. I figure If im pulling enough weigh to fuck up the hub, I've packed too much.
Rohloff is 3 times the price and I cant get into the realms of absurdly expensive bikes. its going to be expensive enough as it is.

Sounds great, go for it! I'd be interested if and what you choose for a Dynamo hub/light?

Have ridden the 11 for a year everyday hauling heavy load up to 120kg, and it felt fine, the bike it was on is those 80's mtb-geo dutch bike with normal gearing.
hasn't had any problem with it insofar, try the 11 and see how you'll like it, don't forget to stop pedalling before you shift.
I think you won't find much on here about lapierres on here as they're mostly only known in the UK for their modern MTB's and (to a lesser extent) carbon road bikes.
It could make a wonderful ladies porteur given some cleaning up. I'd be tempted myself but I've got too many projects lined up and not enough time. That chain guard and front rack alone are fantastic.
