  • Does anyone have a old/broken light that I can have please? It needs to use this kind of mount

I dont need the light to work, i just need its body and preferable the mount too.

  • when that Smart Lunar set I haven't ordered yet arrives, I'll have a spare mount like that, but not the light...

  • My Exposure Flare was fixed under warranty. Shiny Bikes told me that they have had a lot of issues/returns with them. Now working fine and very bright.

  • We also have a lots of issue/returns on those Exposure Flare too (and the Spark), but Exposure being Exposure is pretty good when it come to warranty.

  • The exposure flash/flare combo I was using for just over a year is basically useless now. The thread and plastic housing of the LED and lens is all cracked and crumbling meaning that they keep falling out - not good on a bike light! Plus they seem to have a mind of their own when deciding to turn on and off of flashing. Being just out of warranty I emailed exposure and have had zero response.

Also, the silicone bands that hold them on snap quite easily. Luckily on all occasions I have walked into an evans and they have just given me new ones which is quite nice of them!

It's a shame because for size/weight and illumination they are an excellent light.

Now using a Lezyne Mini drive front light that is amazingly bright and good spread - at a stretch you could use it on dark lanes and see where your going. USB charging is ace too. The clamp is rubbish though.

shhh... I got blasted for recommending them.

  • the mini drive is a very good commuting light
since i got it the road users around Wimbledon now see me a lot better than my previous light and not bother to do a pointless overtake anymore for now =]

  • Has anyone got the link for that good battery recharger? I'm sure I saw someone talking about it here a while ago, can't remember what it's called at all though.

  • The £8 808 model from 7dayshop works for me. Really I just wanted individual channels so I can do 3x AAA batteries at a time. The charge indication and refresh feature are nice to have.

  • My front light took a tumble (after I took a slight sideways tumble!) this morning and a bus went over it! It's now a bit more oval, but still works fine!

Didn't survive today's fall - the handlebar mount is pretty useless it has to said - the light bounced right off going over a cobbled section

  • Looking for some reasonably cheap lights for commuting all year around, I've been using Smart 25 (the white ones) for a while and at first they were awesome but now 2.5/3 years on they are starting to struggle.

Is it worth me going for the brighter (smart 35?) (the black one) or can I get some brighter alternatives around the price of £40-50?

    Cheers.

  • Moooooooon. Check em out. Good Rubber straps so you don't have to leave an ugly mount on your handlebars. The Moon Gem 3.0 is the one I've got - Sumo got the 5, I think he said it's even better. Cheap too.

actually just discovered it still works when pressed together - so will buy some gaffer tape at lunch, he he!

Honestly, just go for a Hope Vision one, cost a bit more, but it likely to be the last light you'll buy.

  • It's a good light (once you chuck away the rubber clamp inserts and use a regular rubber shim), but it wasn't the last light I bought.

Please stop with the fucking platitudes.

  • He lives!

  • Reviews say that Vision One light just turns off without warning when the power exhausted. That sounds like trouble.

  • ^ it's fine - just remember to discharge then re-charge the batteries once in a while.

  • I never found it an issue, but then if I was heading into pitch blackness I always used a fully charged set of high capacity (2900) rechargeable AAs (~4 hours on High). I also carried spares, and always had a basic backup light (helmet torch). Apparently if it shuts off from Max/High, you can then switch it back on Low anyway.

  • ^ le this.

  • I'm very tempted by the vision one. I like that you can get a face plate mount for thompson stems so it doesn't take up bar space.

  • The fact that it's Recommend by Simon Legg - the chap who organises the Friday Night Ride to the Coast - kinda swung it for me.

    This and BMMF's post.

The fact it take AA battery make it worthwhile as they're readily avaliable anywhere, carry a spare and you'll be fine, if you're not packin', pop down to the cornershop/service station to buy AA batteries.

    edited.

Are you a happy fucking bunny now?
