2012-01-27 - Rider Down, Lower Thames St

A cyclist on a bright green bike has collided with a lorry which was either turning into, or reversing out of, Bell Wharf Lane.

Watching this from my office at the moment. Happened approx 1:40pm. Southwark Bridge is closed to all traffic, as the Virgin Rescue helicopter has landed on it. Three paramedics got out of the helicopter, into a taxi, and got dropped off at the scene.

Lots of police and ambulance staff at the scene.

Fingers crossed for the rider.

Helicopter has left. Paramedics are still attending to the cyclist.

14:13 - the cyclist has been shifted onto a stretcher and is now in the ambulance. Good luck, unknown cyclist.

This one perhaps We treated a 38yo male cyclist for pelvic & lower limb injuries following a collision with a lorry in EC3 this pm & tk him to Royal Ldn Hosp ?

Thank fuyck he's alive.

Deep breath.

Saw it all cordoned off around 3:30pm with bike in the middle of the road, did fear the worst.

Wishing him a full and speedy recovery.

The rider invovled was a courier,he's at home now and should make a full recovery.
