  • Non Polo so happy to be put straight back in my box on this one... Am surprised there's been no mention of Veldrome sessions for your winter Polo fitness training.

It's indoors so not weather affected, nice balance of endurance vs sprinting, coaches can work you through some slower bike handling type of drills on the straights, probably more good stuff I can't think of.

    Just a thought.

  • nice idea, if i thought i could make it round once i'd be up for it

  • I on the other hand look silly in lycra.

  • Ah, preconceptions.

Thinking about it, sessions on the indoor BMX could offer the same, but without the need for lycra or the expectation you'd have to get right around

  • ^ p.s. only kidding about not getting around the BMX, it's much nicer all round when folks stay upright.

  • I also look silly not in lycra

  • May I suggest you ride a BMX around the Velodrome in that case.

  • Now THAT I would do. I bet they frown upon it though.

  • Yes, I bet they do. No track bikes on the BMX track either, that's a good thing though as you shouldn't be pedalling much:

  • bmx has been mentioned, i like the idea of trying track too, and i've always imagined you looking rather fetching in lycra

  • It's nice to know you imagine me in lycra late at night.

  • Guys, less of the inappropriate dialogue - there are different forums for that kinda thing. Let me know if you need help finding them.

  • On Topic, Front and back derailleur are now aligned properly so more road riding?

  • Yes yes yes! when where??? I'm up for mid-week 20-30mile rides as well as more epic weekend excursions...

  • Mid-week I would be erring on the side of 20 miles, and don't have a clue where.

Weekend treks could be had easily. But again don't know where I normally just jump on a train to Clitheroe and head off up my nemesis that is waddington fell.

Could nip down to the airport, tatton park, knutsford, and back again?

  • Knutsford is 14 miles from Chorlton, best route is via Jackson's Boat, Sale, Brooklands, Hale, Ashley, Tatton Park. On the way back, Mobberley to Wilmslow is an option but you're looking at nearer 40 round trip rather than 20.

  • taxi?

  • Bike's not sorted I have a new ultegra derailleur that needs to be stuck on.

    Someone draw me a map!

  • So boat back from the end?

  • massive tyres, ride over the water

  • Chan/Mirek/Neil can don his cape and fly us all

bring it on! Mostly flat innit. The brief but steep hill at the start of Styal Road will seperate the boys from the big boys blouses after 30 miles :) I vote for a big chainring-only sprint rule :-p

  • We could stop off at the King Billy in Wilmslow for a wee nip to help us up Stay Road. It's a lovely friendly gradient for the last ten miles (after said hillock) anyway.
