• As part of my clearout, I present you my Cougar Lo-Pro.

The top tube is 54cm, seat tube is 56cm to the top of the rear stays (a bit more tricky to measure).

The frame is a 1991 Cougar built by Terry Dolan. Chris Boardman had the exact same frame (in black) and the guy I got it from used to race with him at that time before he turned pro ( http://www.lunt.demon.co.uk/boardman.htm ).

The frame has a 54cm top tube and the seat tube is around 59cm depending on how you measure it. This frame could be ridden with a suitable length seatpost / stem by riders of between about 5ft 6in and 6ft tall - the top tube length is the important dimension... The set up shown is for me at 5ft10.5

The frame has been repainted 3 years ago (then was stored and not rebuilt until December 2011) so the pearlescent paint is in really good nick (stickers have been applied over the paint and can be removed easily if necessary). A brand new Dura Ace headset was also fitted (that's £80 for paint and £80 for headset at the time). There is one small dent just below the downtube shifter boss and some scratched paint at the BB due to a chain jump. The frame is 130mm spaced at the rear, the clearances are tight.

I’ve finished rebuilding the bike just before Christmas and all the parts used were either new / as new – it has been fully serviced and it’s ready to roll :

    • Reynolds 753 tubing with non-structural ‘webbs’, Dura-Ace 1” HP-7410 Headset, 650 forks with brake drilling + 27mm fluted seatpost + Seat bolt; - £SOLD
    • Sugino RD2 Messenger crankset with 49T TA Chainring + 103mm BB + Gusset Slink half link chain in silver (new); - £SOLD
    • a San Marco Concor Light saddle (Titanox rails); - £SOLD
    • an early 90’s 650c Specialized Tri-spoke carbon front wheel fitted with a brand new Tufo S3 lite tubular tyre (with puncture protection); - £SOLD
    • a 700c 'Varno' V-Sprint clincher rear wheel (Formula hub spaced at 130mm / Weimann Pegasus 40mm deep rim) with a new Michelin 20mm tyre and 16T sprocket; - £SOLD
    • An ITM 'Big One' 120mm stem with 42cm Profile Design bullhorn bars with new Charge white grips; - £SOLD
    • Pedals are MKS GR9 Road with large toe clips and white leather straps. - £SOLD

As you can see, the front wheel has been signed by Graeme Obree (done at his book launch at LMNH the other week) – I think this adds to the value but if you disagree, it can be removed! Also, the blue tape is in place to protect the top tube from bar impact, it can be removed.

The bike is in Chancery Lane.

    Cheers

    Vince

  • Very interested in frame only (& possibly frony wheel) should you decide to split. Regards

  • NICE. Frame is lovely. 2nd split dibs frame.

  • Lovely bike. 500 quid is definitely a very fair price. Good luck with the sale!

  • .

  • thats a good price, you wont have trouble finding a buyer.

  • amazing bike man, if you split id definitely take dibs on the saddle :)

  • Wow. If you split how much you looking for for the tri spoke?
Dibs on it if you're splitting

  • Seen this in the flesh. Looks even better than in the pics!

  • 2nd dibs on the trispoce if you consinder splitting...

  • Sweet bargain man. That dave Lloyd is gorgeously ridiculous too.

  • arghh, wish have money now

  • I'd put the tri-spoke on my wall if I'm honest. Very cool that you got it signed.

  • This bike is so lush. and both your bikes seems to be such a bargain. Shouldnt be long before someone get that.

  • Oh this definitely needs a bump

  • fucking hell... bargain

  • Stunning in white....i think and please correct me if i am wrong in a 653 set of tubes, the forks were 531c and there is no 653 forks as such.

  • I'm pretty sure it's all 653 tubing, including forks - I've interrogated Google and all other 653 Cougars I have spotted are all 653, like this one:

  • You keep tempting me so much it hurts Vince. Luckily I literally don't have the money available or i'd have been all over this weeks ago... Would buy it right this second if I could afford it :(

  • It's a great bike and I think the price is fair, these days you get a shit Specialized Langster for that money...
    Thanks for you comments!

  • It's a totally fair price. We're all just broke-as-fuck freelance scum on here reeling from our tax bills this month....

  • I've now fitted a front brake for those who prefer riding with one.
    Price still the same!

  • 3rd dibs frame if you do split it.

  • Frame dibs have been noted the indicative breaking prices for Monday are as follows:

    Cheers
