This is a route that i ride regularly from my house to my parents. Ignoring the beginning and the stuff north of Cambridge, it's an excellent, quiet and pretty route from London to Cambridge.

[/ame]You could always butcher it to add things to the beginning / end.
Also; in.

OK, I'll keep the first post updated with a list, route, etc.

You could always just do the Dunwich Dynamo properly (both ways).
-

This is separate to the DD, which I'll also be doing. This ride is different to that: done in daytime, doing everything to minimise the pain of 200 miles.
-
• #32
Not doing 200 miles is the best way to minimise pain. Failing that, go in one direction with a tailwind.
-
• #33
Minimise? I just don't understand kids these days.

Hmm, this sounds great! and I like this route (mainly because I'd just have to run south a bit at Bungay to get to my dad's)
Edit: although the bit of M1 around Cambridge might be a bit sketchy ...Ok just looking at a rough plan. Hopefully someone will help out here;
London up to Cambridge
Cambridge to Kings Lynn
Kings Lynn to Dereham
Dereham to Watton
Loop under Attleborough round to Bungay up to Hales and in to Norwich on the Rockland St Mary road.ala ; http://g.co/maps/rpsh4
Seems like a nice route, I know the roads from Cambridge through to Norwich are nice and quiet but still pace through places where we can pick up supplies.

I'd says that doing that is a lots harder than doing 200 miles in the daytime...
I don't think it's a great idea for those who want to break a double in one day, having said that I'm definitely doing the DD both way (depending on whether it clash with the other ride I'll be doing).

Spence lives there, my girlfriend lives there and Colin lives there. So it would work for us.
I'm from there... :)

Exactly. So, anyone who wants in is welcome, but this is what it is for a reason.

Plus we can stop in Dereham for lunch provided by Mrs. Spenceey - she doesn't know about this plan yet though.
Lets set a date up.

I am also up for a triple century if anyone is feeling particularly masochistic. I can't promise not to cry/fall asleep in a public toilet, but having hit 270 I feel like it's calling and doing it by myself is probably unwise.

Can I tick off double first please? Already told myself ill be doing longer distance this year. Hopefully ill be up for 300.

London start would probably get some more people involved, which would be good. Presume we could find space for people to crash in Norwich if needed?
Clearly this ride doesn't count as a proper double century because it does not start from London's Famous London.

yes. though I may be out for this one having seen the 4am start time. !
I am going to do a Devon run at some point in the near future, once I've shed some Christmas unfitness*.

That looks like a nice route to do, roughly how long does it take you usually?

is anyone doing it fixed or does one have to move up to geared for this kind of ride
i'd be interested in joining the throng
a nice summers days with a tailwind please
-
• #47
I'd imagine you'd be fine fixed. I wouldn't dream of riding fixed that kind of distance (well I don't ride fixed full stop any more!) but if you think your up to it. Go for it!
We will all ride this together so no worries about people getting dropped and thrown out the back.
Oh and I hope that weather report is true come the day!

That's 4 and a bit hours for me, wind dependent, door to door. You can shave 20 mins off of that by leaving London early in the morning.

I just thought Norwich made perfect sense, It's about the distance we want to ride, plenty of places to stop along the way. Norfolk is brilliant for cycling and Norwich is very easy to get home to London from.
