A chap at work asked me to help him with he has play in his bottom bracket.
His bike is a Peugeot Etoile that he reckons was built in 1988 - the front wheel hub says 1988 so it's very likely to be that vintage.
I've checked Sheldon Brown and other websites to find out what thread the BB is but I still don't know as 80's Peugeot's could be anything.
This website says that Peugeot phased out all french BB shells in the early 80's and it was all complete by 1986, which would make the BB on this Peugeot either English or Swiss. http://cyclespeugeot.com/Threading.html
Here is a pic of the BB shell which shows that the BB cup on the drive side has a ring around the circumference - which would make it Swiss.
Have a look and let me know what you think. I'd like to fit a sealed BB on this (Shimano UN54) but if the thread isn't British, I'll just get new bearings, clean then grease it back altogether.
