  • Hello all, I'd love to do this so count me in on my SS. DJ if you decide to ride in want to head in together? I'm just down from Goldhawk Road St.

How tough do I need to be to do the Harp Hilly the next day? I've not done either of the rides. I guess I'll just see the next morning at 645 am huh...

  • Provisionally in for this.

  • Will anybody be riding out from Camden sides? Will be staying there the night before..

provisionally in, riding single speed 52/17.. depart swiss cottage at 0730, PM for meet details - Al

  • Provisionally out, hurt myself climbing

  • Also out. Unfortunately I'm going to restrict my cycling to Sunday club runs for the next few months due to university stuff.

  • could do this... are we 100% fixed only? (I've only gear atm)

    up yours

  • will do.

  • Definately up for this. After only doing 1 forum ride last year I plan to start this year slightly better!

  • Just a reminder for this Saturday.(21st January)

The ride should be on. The weather forecast doesn’t look too bad, although the gusty wind is a bit worrying. At least it should be in the right direction to blow us home.

    Some helpful details:

The exact address of the meeting point: Staines Sailing Club, 105 Chertsey Lane Staines, Middx. TW18 3LQ.
It’s about a mile from Staines Bridge, on the left as you go towards Chertsey. There are light coloured pillars either side of the gateway, marked ‘SSC’ and ‘105’. There is adequate car parking and a loo.

My mobile is 0796 3636 784. If you’re running a bit late (arriving after 9.15) but you’re reasonably close, ring me.

I must ask everyone to remember that no cycling on the road is completely risk free. I have tried to pick a route that seems reasonably safe, and we will aim at a steady pace with no burn ups or heroics. If you do get dropped on a climb, don’t panic, we will wait for you somewhere suitable. Don’t chase madly on a descent – there will be more climbing round the corner, and we’ll be waiting at the top.

Ultimately, though, everyone must take responsibility for his or her own personal safety.

I hope to see you all on Saturday.

  • I'm looking forward to it!

Sorry folks, would love to be joining you good people, but will be working.

Have a cracking ride, in no doubt excellent company. Maybe post a few photos to torture the sad gits left back in the office!

  • Brake levers haven't arrived in time so I haven't put new bars on and thus made my bike comfortable, but it's now got a BB in it that doesn't sound like it's going to explode and a new tyre on the back, so I think I'm ready for this...

  • tom, i look forward to chasing your wheel :)

    #not a euph

  • I've overdone it this week, could barely crawl into town today. Most likely be hanging off the back for most of tomorrow :)
