The chub also is meant to make you go 'faster'. I.e, due to the spokes being shorter and there being less flex you get a more positive transfer of power. Or something along those lines.

This looks quite a bit like the Roberts tarck frame I'm going to put up here for sell this weekend. Albeit with slightly more vibrant paint.
Chubb Hub. The idea is that the shorter spokes make it stiffer and less likely to get out of true etc.
