^Nope, not unless you put a whole box of muesli in at once, realise your mistake a few days later and get so worried you leave the lid on for 5 months and let all the worms die and fester. Taking the top off that time was a bit grim but day-to-day they're fine, don't smell at all.
This one is designed for outdoors though, it's not suitable for indoor use really.
Rats aren't a problem unless you put meat in, same goes for heaps and wormeries.
