Trees shed pollen as an evolutionary response to deforestation by humans as a way of protecting themselves. Pollen is designed to trigger reactions in people who are responsible for the destruction. As a result only people descended from tree fellers, foresters, woodsmen and carpenters are prone to getting hay fever and allergies.
