the threads on either side of a flip flop are the same, in that they both tighten clockwise. you could then have two different size freewheels (both right hand threads - ie normal) and just flip the wheel over to swap between ratios. but then you will be governed by the distance you can move the wheel in the drop outs to make up for the increased/decreased amount of chain being used by the bigger/smaller freewheels
