Shit, the bike doesn't even look like anything to special either
guess that's when a mini D-lock in your belt or holster would come in handy...

Some little turds tried to mug a brompton rider in the park just outside St Mary Magdalene's church opposite Rowington Close, W2. They dragged him off his bike, hit him when he struggled then made off with the bike. The chap gave chase and luckily the feckless little shites couldn't really ride and ran off after falling off it.
But yeah, be careful out there.

This made me angry:
This used to be my bike and I sold it to a mate last year. Last night I left my bike locked next to his outside his house. Got a text this morning saying I might want to move my bike somewhere safer. Utterly pointless theft... it was right outside his window and all they got was just a just a generic set of handlebars, a 6year old pair of Sora shifters that have had a hard life and some battered bar tape.
Lucky escape for me but clearly ignorant thieves - my bike was parked next to his and was only recently overhauled with new BB, crankset, chain, rear sprocket, levers, tape, cables etc. I'd guess just my cranks are worth more than his whole bike.
[sorry, just a rant]

Hey all, I'm posting this on behalf of my dad:
He is on the lookout for a Black circa 1930s Rudge Whitworth bicycle removed from the basement of the Oxo Tower building (south bank) between last thursday and saturday (12-14th Jan).
Strictly speaking it was unlocked, as all of the bikes 'unclaimed' bikes in the basement had been cut free as part of a clean up operation. But even though unlocked, it doesn't make them another's property.
There is some disagreement between my dad and the building management as they were cut free 48 hours earlier than the posted deadline, and as such my dad hadn't had time to remove it before the cut-free operation.I'm assuming that a lot of the bikes in the basement may have been taken en-masse by dealers or for parts? I know for a fact that the Rudge needed a bit of work doing, so it's unridable and probably sitting somewhere awaiting restoration or purchase right now.
Please shoot me a PM if anyone has any details; Would really appreciate any info as the bike has quite a strong sentimental value.
Cheers! -

Stolen from Wandsworth last night - Planet-X Stealth (black, medium), Cobb V-Flow saddle, powertap rear, Planet-X model B front wheel, ultegra chainset, profile aerobars.
This was my wife's training bike and as such was filthy, unlubricated but much loved.
