  • Get thee to the pharmacy on your lunch break and get some diclofenac most commonly sold as volterol (make sure you eat something before you take it). Ask for a DSE (Display Screen Equipment) assessment they will look at your desk/chair/computer set up and make recommendations, make sure you mention your hip to the assessor if you can back it up with a proper medical diagnosis they will have to provide you with new equipment, but if you cannot they will most likely supply you with it anyway to cover themselves.

Edit - As a new employee you should have one at the start or close to the start of your job anyway. It may be worth reminding them of this.

Best thing to do is talk to your GP...he will either advise on dosage or prescribe something else.

Or whip you with a bundle of inner tubes and make you call him Boss. My GP does that sometimes.

OTC Voltarol is marketed as Paineze, which is only 12.5mg. YMMV, but it's pretty useless. Ask your GP for 50mg of goodness.

After the DSE (Display Screen Equipment) assessment, move your monitor upwards by 12 inches, as they are probably working off 25 year old advice.

"Your eyes should be level with the top of your screen" should read "your eyes should be level with the bottom of your screen".

I was on diclofenac before, I'll ask GP to put me back on. I'm also going to self refer back to physio. For me I find the major problem is desk height, i'm going to get some of those blocks to push it up 2 inches.
