  • ^ knob, btw.

  • Cannot rep you enough, right down to the reclining hair.

  • Long and Winding sound like an oriental couple too...

  • Crouching Long and Winding Tiger...

  • Win-ding and I are so happy with our new bicycle

  • Those lugs are the sex...

  • What are you lot waffling on about ...

re: the bars, they are just Nitto bullhorns, but they do look a bit large in that photo angle. Might need to see if there is anything a little more graceful, that fits the size of the bike (which is tiny!).

  • Are they the RB 018?
I thought they're more 'pursuit' bars than bull horns and aren't supposed to be up so high. Mine are horizontal to the ground.

  • Not sure, my order emails are at home. Will investigate.

I've just ordered the lockring tool from Royce, cliff is a lovely chap. He's not had a hub used for a belt drive sprocket before so was interested to hear that the lock ring is recessed within the sprocket. If the tool doesn't fit, then he's going to modify it especially.

  • Are they the RB 018?
I thought they're more 'pursuit' bars than bull horns and aren't supposed to be up so high. Mine are horizontal to the ground.

They are the RB-018, 38cm wide. The bar tape (cinelli) is probably making them look bigger. I will lower the angle, and raise the stem a little - that was the only adjustment I was considering after the photo's. Oh, and tightening the headset ever so slightly.

  • Does your bike fit also give you an idea of how high/low your handlebar should be set to for your kind of riding? I remember Scherrit raising my bar a bit because I wanted a more comfortable randonneur set-up (bar almost levels to saddle).

  • It is fairly close to what Scherrit set up on the ALAN, I measured the contact points (with a long spirit level), and got it pretty close. It felt fine on the first ride, but that was barely a mile, just to take photos. I'll be checking / tightening up all the bolts before the next ride, so will re-measure the contact points (and dig out the bike fit notes) and adjust the bars a little.

  • Very very nice :)

  • Hey L&W. I remember you talking about this frame at TaggyCat and today I found this vid. Let's all look at a video of your frame being fondled:

  • Ha! nice one ... Tom played that to me on Friday, I didn't know when it was going to be released.

  • ^^

She had a tattoo on her wrist, and I re-drew that in a way that would work for the lugs ... and did it ... in stainless steel

    Understatement of the year?

  • Beautiful frame man, that's got me wanting to build my own now.... got to get round to using that frame building jig in work's basement sometime I suppose.

  • Oooooof! I'm usually very much a fuckofflugsyoucunt kinda guy, but that really is something special.

For me, it would be perfect with some nice drops.

  • about your size as well aint it?

  • ^ ha! from little to large :)

Why do I keep looking at the flipping photo's when it's 5ft away from me across the room.

Such a lovely bike. You all need to see her in the flesh.

Tom phoned me today, concerned about the front sprocket clearance and the fact that I've had to push the BB so it protrudes about 3mm. He's going to sort out a replacement BB that has a longer spindle so it fits properly. Have sent measurements and photo's of the BB and shims to Tom and Cliff this evening. The service these chaps give is beyond awesome.

  • Really, really lovely. I hope you don't mind me asking, but why not go for a longer seattube and headtube (taller frame), since you seem to have a fair bit of seat post and stem showing?
Just hoping to learn some of the thought that's gone into it. thanks !

  • That's just the way it turned out, I think that as the frame is sized for smaller wheels everything else looks a weeny bit oversized.

Yes, the seat post is at it's min insertion point. But the stem is only a 10cm stem, which I've been advised is best for optimal performance. The top tube + stem is the right size for me.

  • This is a great advert for Demon. I was very impressed with their stand at the Bristol show last year. I think I'd be more than happy to go with them if I could afford a custom build :)

  • Initially when I saw the lugs, I had real reservations that it wasn't going to work... that it was all a bit busy, a conflict of styles with no continuity. But seeing the finished product, well, it truly is special and unique and a testament to the unwavering vision of Long, and Winding.

    +1
