Ah, they just add to the fun really, although the further up you go the less fun they add...

It's the bump after the corner on the drag side that used to piss me off.

Is it Steeper/longer than Pepys Rd in New Cross?
-
• #3155
Consistently steeper, shorter. When doing overgeared reps, Canonbie kills me much quicker.

There's plenty, cheeky, short, sharp shockers round where I live. I love to find a new one. Looks good for reps.

I used to hit it on my way home from an hour of College Road reps just to finish me off, would keep going until I physically couldn't get to the top any more.
Dunstans > Mt Adon Park > Overhill in the vicinity is also fun. Adon Park is great to do back and forth. Fun twisty bit. -

What's wrong with Canonbie??
I stumbled across Canonbie for the first time as a cyclist at the beginning of last summer. I was so genuinely chuffed to find a proper hill in South East London I was chuckling out loud to myself all the way up turned round rode back down and back up again. A builder having a cup of tea on a scaffold called me a lunatic.
Have you seen Spybot's South London Hills route? 27mi of similar surprises...best enjoyed fixed.

Steady Surrey ride on Sunday, taking in 3 more of the 100:

Lovely day to be out and about, once you'd gotten over the initial shock of 7.30am in the dark...

Which section of College Road do you repeat? I guess down to the toll booth each time would mean too much time to recover to be useful?

I do toll booth to roundabout. sprint first and last sections, stay seated til certain points, etc. repeat. 8 in an hour then home. overgeared fixed, targetted pain.

This is the original short one (much like Oli) but I've got a 27miler that takes in crystal palace and Annerley areas too...will post that as soon as I have taken the burning onions off my cooker.

^^ Jim. Generally get out there once a week with my pal Bigpaintbrush. If doing a short hilly one we do Epping and loops and it's about 34 miles give or take. If we go further we've been anywhere between 50 and 75 miles. On the hilly runs I average 15.5 as you can see. We're generally quicker on the longer flatter runs. But no records are challenged believe you me! Hope to get a few more shorties in before ice kicks in for real.
Sounds pretty similar to the types of ride I do... if you ever fancy some company, give me a shout. Not around this weekend though as I'll be doing the Harp Hilly Hundred

I borrowed this route or something like it over the summer. Although I did cheat and do it on gears.

First long ride of the year, @60miles my longest ever. Pretty slow, about 13 point something m/h average, mainly because of all the hills at the start.
Bristol -> Puclechurch ->Hinton -> N.Wraxall -> Ford -> Biddestone -> Corsham -> Bradford on Avon -> Bath -> Bristol
Discovered that the canal path from Bradford-on-Avon is infact *not *paved, but looked stunning in the low sun, I'll be taking that route home fom work a few times when I have my touring bike sorted.

Down to Kingswood drive and back up to roundabout. Repeat 20 times. ~600 vertical meters in 22km.

Maybe the porteur rack slowed you down?

It was enjoyable, and a great day for it. Just not enough wheel hopping from me and a realisation I've lost a lot of strength over the last month.
If you're ever in the area and want to ride with company you'd be welcome at any of the club runs. Deets >>>
Sounds great. I'll be sure to drop you a line next time I visit.

Nice one mate. I'm fairly certain I can recall my first load of longer rides being close to 13mph. How did you feel afterwards and the next day?

My weekend ride, the weather was beautiful if not a bit chilly. I found route where I can stay off the main roads and stick to the fun back roads with a few small climbs towards the downs, I might build off this ride and add a climb up the downs for training purposes. No idea what I'm training for but I would like to do something this year.
Just Google mapped.. I need to have a go at this.. Although the speed bumps look shit
