I never really understood going to such lengths to 'improve' a road frame like that when track frames or more easily converted frames are out there.
I thought the answer was fairly obvious, as it IS a road frame designed for the road, more room for bigger tyres, slacker geo for everyday riding, mount for front/rear brakes, etc.
the only issue I have with road frame in general is simply the bottom bracket height, otherwise road frame make great fixed wheel bicycle.
