Ice skating uses the same muscles as cycling apparently, so it's probably fair to say that rollerblading would also use those muscles too.

- Going up a hill of any description is torture and makes you want to walk instead.
- If you skate on the pavement, everyone hates you but if you go on the road, everyone hates you.
- You look a right bellend.

My sister's boyfriend lives in Mallorca and roller blading over there is really big right now. He got her some from christmas. I lol'd. They have quite good multi-use cycle/rollerblading/walking paths at the side of the road though. And they're smooth.

Gotz a £200+ pair of Bauers from about ten years ago, used them oooooh twice. Great nick, size 10 but will be good for 9-10.
£20 and I'll throw in a manly and knowing nod of the head. Rollerblades are for hard men and that is a FACT. -

There are quite a few skaters that hang around this forum, me included. A lot of the speed skaters use bikes for training, it's a good way of building up your fitness both on skates and a bike - many of the same muscles are used in both activities.

Yeah, I saw a group of kids around Surrey quays the other day and a few around new cross. They're all on quads as opposed to inline skates though. I think the rollerdisco scene is making a big comeback.

Lots of pro cyclists cross country ski in the off season.
Not something that is easily done in England though.
... telling your parents you're gay.
But on a serious note, it's meant to be super good for your glutes and quads.
I'm considering it but not sure I can bring myself to do it, especially not publicly.
Does anyone here do it for crosstraining?
