I'd be surprise if this golf went beyond £200:

the golf maybe not.Probably- but they're always worth a watch, uncle picked one up dirt cheap in Devon, and its served him well.
And the golf shouldn't....
The mercedes's probably will.I'm off to Kenya this summer and was considering attempting a reverse banger rally, but realistically its not going to happen.
Is that an advert for that car beardie?

That saab's interesting ;)
It's not till september, so I'll probs have to wait if I want to get one close to losing it's MOT...

I was wondering whether to strap the bike to the back so I can pootle about while people are camping, but I think it's probably going to be a no go. Don't think anyone else will be either...

Strap a £20 raleigh shopper to the roof, might come in handy.
I tried to do a beater rally with mates but insurance was still going to cost us a fortune, have to wait till we are a bit older I guess.

Get a big car.
A good friend of mine did the Mongol Rally in a Micra, he was asleep in the passenger seat when a jeep came round a corner on the wrong side of the road, hit them head on.
He was air-lifted to South Korea as it was the nearest place that had the capability to operate on his spine.
He had a series of operations there until it was safe to fly him back to the UK.
As a footnote, his medical insurance ran out the day before the crash- his parents had to re-mortgage their house to pay for the airlifts (half a million or so).

There's a Mazda 626 on Auto Trader that might do you. A bit leggy and they a fucking horrible, but it should keep running.
Anyway, different question.
Can anyone suggest a nice metallic silver blue that they like? Pics of cars in said colour would be great. -

Mental note. Always get travel insurance. Because the combined worth of my dad and mum's houses wouldn't pay for that.

Is he OK now?
-

He can walk with a stick, for short distances.

Thats one of the reasons i got a W126 for my rally - lowest crash to death ratio of any car yet built - the thing is a tank
-
• #8094
Buy an actual tank?

Bet mine's got a better crash-to-death ratio. (I love that phrase)
They're right though. If you get something large you'll find the sleeping arrangements a lot more comfortable as well. Having said that fuel will be worse.
You can prob pick up a Cherokee V8 for 250 notes, it's all their worth... ;)

• #8096
Big relatively low compression V8 is less likely to detonate like crazy when filled with "barely petrol", and asked to pull.

Lol.
On the drive down to Spain last year I remember filling up in some sh*thole in Paris and only when getting back in the car did I notice I'd filled up with 93plumb. Wow. Real power killer... ;)

Mm, lovely DB4, but isn't that just silver birch in low light?
I found this which is nice
Merc will go for >£500.
Toyota van thing is a non-runner.
For the ideal banger rally car, you want something with like a month/2 left on its MOT, that the owner knows is going to die, and cbf fixing it, surely.
