I had heard that higher cadence didn't necessarily equal power output, but less strain per stroke.

If you're pushing the same resistance, but faster.. you're producing more power.

Is there a way that I can ignore the Epic WTF thread on my work computer so that I don't get tempted but still be able to see it on my home PC without going through the hassle of ignoring it / unignoring every time I switch machines?

Q; just how bad is it when you call your current gf by the previous (our even before that!) ones name?
Was just on normal conversation and she didn't seem to notice as I talk at about 5000 words per minute. I an dyslexic and have a hell of time with names st the best od times. Also I keep finding girls that dress similar and have 2 syllbel names which does not help :sGive all girlfriends the same pet name. Problem solved.

What's the screw called which holds the downtube shifter onto the bike? Just shifted my front mech and the lever came off in my hand. It seems I'm missing a little bolt. Need to know what I'm looking for.

downtube shifter bolt?

Shifter dohickey? Lever thingummybob?
^this is by all accounts what it is called Hippy. I feel more than a tad stupid now.

The Bolt By Which All Other Bolts Are Judged.
-
• #23064
I suppose my bigger question is, will I be able to find a replacement bolt (is it the sort of thing my LBC will have kicking about?) or am I looking at replacing the levers?

Hope disc brakes- floating or non floating rotors?
-
• #23066
non, unless you're riding the Alps?
Benefit of floating is the outer of the rotor can expand at different rate to the 'vanes' (?) when the braking surface gets very hot on long descents. This can lead to distortion. I've made my non floating rotors / pads smoke with no problem so unless you're either very heavy or riding long, techy downhill then save your money. But they do look kinda cool...

• #23067
Non floating are £23 each, floating are £33.
So, for the sake of £20, you suggest that I'd look cool?

Anyone had any experience with the eightinch scrambler V3 frameset?
Looks pretty decent, but then is a frame, forks, headset and seatpost for £209 just asking for trouble?
Thanks!

i'd not pay £20 to look 'cool'. it's only a fiver for a pack of fags...
what bike's it going on?

Fignon.
Peter Winnen.
Thanks for the responses. Le Grimpeur blog says:
“When I saw riders with fat asses climbing like aeroplanes, that’s when I knew,” said Colombian climber Luis Herrera.
Which is right? It is a bit moot now anyway, because I've already written what I wanted to use it for.

Is it really? I gave up smoking a couple of years ago and thought it was more than that then.
Bike=Cross bike.
-
• #23072
^ almost £5 for 10 these days (assuming you smoke a "premium" brand of coffin nail like Marlborough or Camel)
-
• #23073
cross bike'll not 'need' floating rotors, and I've not smoked in years either. I have also given up looking cool.

could someone explain how (if) wattage and RPM are related.
Many people have asked what age RPM is and nobody has yet come up with a satisfactory answer.

Shifter dohickey? Lever thingummybob?
^this is by all accounts what it is called Hippy. I feel more than a tad stupid now.Lucky guess on my part. I could've just as easily typed 'annoying little bastard thing that is never tight enough and probably missing the correct washers so it slips gear all the time and wow after the last one do my balls ache!' ;)
Power is force x velocity. ie. the faster you pedal the higher the power, the more force you apply the higher the power.

FTP is maximum power you can maintain for an hour.
There are no standard figures.
How to improve = ride your bike faster.
