High-street shops should make their sizing consistent then and stop labelling their size 10s as 8s to flatter their punters. I actually had to resort to taking a tape measure to H&M last time I bought jeans since they're labels tell straight up lies and I can't be fcuked with queuing for 20 mins to trying on three pairs of the same thing.
This is the root cause of all evil. there are a hell of a lot of women (and men, believe it or not) who're seriously insecure about their bodies. So much so that there are plenty of people who shop anonymously (using the internet) and place huge huge orders only to return everything other than the pieces that actually fit. They're able to avoid the sales staff asking them if they want the bigger size because it's not what they want to hear. Society (both men and women) need to accept that their bodies can and will change over the course of time.
The other problem in this industry is that all companies have their own definition of what a size 8 or 10 is. This is mostly the case with the higher end designer labels where you can be anything from a size 6 to a size 10.
Flattering the customers by mis-labelling product fills them with a false sense of security and makes them only shop with that particular organisation. When the client has to shop elsewhere for whatever reason it confuses them.
I work for a company whose sizing is vastly different from season to season. If a client is a size 10 for two seasons and then comes to shop for the new season and (invariably) she is suddenly a size 12 then you can in theory lose that client. We are working on this.

Thanks. Not as bad as when you buy a mac and a month later then bring out a brand new processor rendering your computer defunct after a few years.

Precisely! Good to know its being worked out.

Yes. Boobs are a hassle too. If you're skinny but have a rack you're doomed to buying things two sizes too big just so you can get zips done up. Cycling jerseys are particularly bad for this, rapha included IME, urgh.

Yeah Thr'ups and Rapha tops don't go. You especially can not wear a messenger bag with this set up.

It's being worked out if you can afford to shop at b&D's shop if you can do that you are doing well!

OK I have a similar problem with my thighs, especially as the trend recently has been for "skinny" jeans and trousers; as I have massive rugby players thighs I can only buy the loose cut ones and even then will normally need to buy at least 1 size bigger in the waist to accommodate.
But this has nothing to do with Rapha being nice but pricey so i'll>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Rapha has had some size discrepencies too - when they first started, they were following an Italian sizing policy so everything was tiny but then seemed to size according to the UK 'norms.' Perhaps it's an indication of the type of person they were expecting to appeal to but the R+PS range was definitely vanity sized.
As a consequence, I have items that are all the same physical size but are labelled from small to large.

You just have to be aware of what your body shape is and what will suit you. Any half decent shop assistant should be able to easily direct you to what will suit your shape as opposed to what you think you look good in.
And people say there's no skill in my game...

I also had a delivery from the Rapha fairy today and I am very happy with it all.
A long sleeve jersey, a winter jersey (which looks like it's a fantastically well thought out piece of clothing) some 3/4 bibs, socks and mitts. It's a little bundle of joy and I can't wait to get on the bike and try it out.

Shutt are good for this from what I've heard... and the bib shorts take boobs into account as well

Just looked at the Shutt ladies bib shorts, to me they don't look comfortable for boobs, the Rapha ones do work for me, they're a bit more 'all-encompassing'.
