I want to make the new LFGSS work for people with an average bandwidth of 8 Kb/s.

I think it's ridiculous... just because we have extra bandwidth, people are filling it with all kinds of crap.
+1 light weight used to be the watch word of web design, now we have overblown bloatsites with endless bandwidth munching flashverts. but that's progress for you the internetz aspires to be TVized into enternetainment. lolcats and present company excluded.
