You'd still have the situation where the headtube rises up, tapers slightly at the top cap, goes straight up at the spacer, and then BAM, there's the stem, sat on top of the spacer, looking like an afterthought. I'll chuck another stem on there when the fork turns up (maybe tomorrow) to demonstrate what I'm talking about.

re: the bottle cages, was there not some chat about the being a WW novelty and not actually that secure/solid?

It could have been the bmxed's Giant, in which case ignore.

People who have not used them did say that they couldn't be very good.

I have used them, and reckon they are fine- a very elegant engineering solution.
