• First new year resolution is to make some space so here is for sale one of my dad's old bikes - An old school 1982 Gitane Diffusion Racer which hasn't been used much.

    The specification is as follows:
    1982 Gitane Matador X

    • Frame: top tube 56cm, seat tube 56cm, headtube 14cm, racing tubing lugless internally brazed;
    • 40cm bars (cloth tape a bit grubby), 80mm stem;
    • Brakes: Weinmann Type 500 alloy side pull brakes, CLB G.T. levers;
    • Gears: Solida double cottered crankset 170mm arms 52 teeth / 42 teeth, Simplex 5 speed rear derailleur, Maillard 5 speed cassette 14 - 24 teeth, Sedis Delta chain;
    • Wheels: Samir Saminox 700c rims, Pelissier small flange QR hubs, Wolber Sport 700x25 C amber wall tyres;
    • Unbranded saddle;
    • Pedals: Lyotard 136R Steel, Christophe Special Toe Clips, Jaftex rubber straps;
    • Eyes for mudguards and decent clearance.
      The bottom bracket is tight with no play, the wheels are straight, head/pedals/wheel bearings smooth, rear gears work perfectly and it's ready to roll - the stem and seatpost also move freely.

    It has been stored inside all its life so it's in pretty good condition for a 30 years old bike. Bernard Hinault won the '82 tour that year on a Gitane bike (Renault/Elf/Gitane team).

    The trained eye will notice that the front derailleur & downtube shifter are missing, I'm waiting for NOS parts to arrive to re-fit them. It's all period and untouched so far - I've also purchased 'Tour de France' pack yellow coloured that I can include in the sale and fir for you (Cobra saddle/Pro Lite bar tape/Jagwire outer cables/Renault Gitane Cap - all yellow).

    The bike will fit someone in the region of 5"10 - 6"1

    Pretty sweet time wrap bike, all period & original, will also look good with the yellow kit. Check out the picture galore below!

    Price wise, i think **£SOLD **with the yellow pack sounds fair since you but as per usual let me know if I am talking out of my arse (that's the price of a shitty Create bike).

    Pick up from Brixton, but since the bike is in full working order, I can cycle it to your door or meet up in town.
