  • Hi, I'm interested in the bike, and so have a couple of Q's :

    • What's the top tube centre to centre ?
    • Are the gears indexed ?
    • Do the wheels run true ?
    • Is the main frame colour silver or gold - can't quite make it out from the photo, thanks, Ben
  • Hi Ben the top tube c/c is 55.5 cm
the wheels are true and no indexing
the color is silver with a hint of gold

    cheers

  • Saw you're looking for a 58 cm touring bike to replace yours. I still have this one, trying to get rid of it:

    http://www.lfgss.com/thread75406.html

Sadly I'm about 5 inches too tall for your beautiful bike!

EDIT: I posted 56cm, but I remember it feeling like a tall 56, for what it's worth.

  • Thanks but looking for something a little more racy cheers anyway

  • I need to find a small person to rebuild this for.

It's lots of bike for the money.

  • Thanks 36x18 your right it is a lot of bike for the money, would swap for decent laptop too !!

  • Happy days............ I have been given an old raleigh from a mate and done a referb on it but could not find much info on it except being made in worksop by carlton for raleigh in 1975.
well, the one your selling is identical.... right down to the brakes. What else do you know about yours ???? Ta.

  • Not much elce to say apart from they seem to be a very rare bike for a Raleigh !!
oh and the crank set is sort after as it takes many different size chain rings probably

  • Oh crumbs... dibs!

  • ive been meaning to ask (since im new here)what does dibs stand for ?

  • It's an English children's term for when you want something and want to seal the deal quickly before actually confirming the details.

So here the idea would be that you post "dibs" so everyone else knows you're in there first. Then you follow up with a PM.

The problem often comes when people just go around saying "dibs" without following up with a PM, or then offering below the asking price, or just asking a million questions. None of which is a problem in themselves but kinda pointless, when you've just said you want the item infront of anyone else. Which is why lots of people say no dibs.

    PM's are usually the safest.

    edit - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dibs - says it better

  • And incidentally, I dibsed, followed up with a PM, and accepted the asking price.

  • I think ST stood for 'Super Tourist'...?
I've got a 55cm Custom built ST bike from Swinnerton Cycles for sale if anyone needs something bigger.

    Sorry to hijack the thread.

  • no problem the Raleigh is sold and your right about the name ST, thanks to everyone who took the time to stop by cheers Dave
