Ah, I issed where you said sq taper axle/splined axle, that makes it clearer.
I imagine that there's still some tools made from an old cast for sq taper axle getting churned out in these cheapo tool kits and stuff.
I also misread the OPs post and thought he had bought a new tool that wouldn't fit.
I need to read better/clean my gleggs it would seem.
