So I've been making do with some pretty poor gloves for the past few seasons. They have now started to go at the seams from where I've been carrying my skis/falling over/generally abusing them and it's time for a new pair. I saw some very nice gloves from Hestra at the ski and snowboard show yesterday and was tempted to shell out.
Anyone got/used gloves from Hestra? They felt good quality and very warm, are they worth the cost? -

from my experience, leather gloves don't hold out water that well, which is fine when you out on the slopes, but you stop for lunch, sit in a cafe for 30 mins and the snow has melted and made the insides wetter than an otters pocket.
However mine were Grenade gloves, these look a little better. I've had 2 pairs of grenade gloves, both shit!

Just booked a skiing holiday for end of Feb. Cool story I know.
Since I won't be needing ski gear in Oz, does anyone have any helmet & goggle combo for selz?
I need a 57cm and a 54cm one. -

I'm going to (south facing) Alpe D'Huez at the end of the season. Hope this base does the business...
Otherwise I'm taking my road bike.

sorry to hear about your bad experience, i ran the jungfrau marathon in 2005 it was shithard, from interlaken thro lauterbrunnen valley up to wengen on to eiger glacier.. i hadn't appreciated that wengen was where downhill skiing orginates from, apparently a doctor used to walk about with sticks on his feet in the snow, skiing back down to wengen after seeing his patients.
i would love to go back one day..

Haha I wish! But I am here a lot.
Lausanne is lovely though, and don't forget Portes du Solei on your listl! Massive skiing to be done there. If you're going to hit Villars over the xmas/NY holidays arrive early, it can get a bit busy with all the ski schools and tourists.

Tru dat... Great loss to our sport. She deserved to be in the Olympics and defend every single title she has. I hope to see everyone slay in her honour at Dew Tour this weekend. RIP Sarah.

My grandmother is renting her small flat in Bonneval sur Arc, snow guaranteed (3000m alt.), sleeps 6 (2 bunkbeds, 1 sofa-bed), I think it's quite cheap but pm me for details and I'll find out how much/availability etc...

I am considering telemark skiing in Norway for Christmas / new year. Call me old fashioned, but this way better than the cross country on the continent as we will be hiking up some big mountains. I need to get super fit, bring my gaitors, nightcap booze and plenty of books cos there is no après ski scene where I am heading (+3 hrs north of Oslo) plus the daylight hours are short and all very expensive).
Oh there should some huskies sledding, skidoos and ice caves.
Outside of this forum, pretty big repost. Still one of my favorite segments though.
