  • I asked one of the ebay sellers where the saddles came from. They said it was from an auction and suggested I didn't bid if I wasn't interested. I wasn't and I didn't. See below:

thay all come from an auction thanks if you dont want please do not bid thanks

  • happened to me today, one of my friends thought it would be funny if i chased him

  • Frame S/N: 12081782

Distinctive black custom condor frame with orange wheels.
Stolen from Convent Garden at 2pm on 7th December 2011.

Call me 07582092329 - will reward you.

I put this ad up and another on Gumtree. Two days ago a fellow called me to say that he had just bought my bike, he saw my Gumtree ad when he got home with his bike. He knew what he had just bought was too good to be true. Amazingly my ad featured when he opened Gumtree.

Anyway I now have my bike back. I reimbursed the fellow who innocently bought my bike and gave him a christmas bonus for the effort. He is now co-operating with police.

    Amazing. I am stoked.

I should ad that the guy that bought my bike responded to an ad for a Create fixie, not my bike. When he turned up it was something different. If you're bored it's worth chasing down a few of those ads I reckon, could be others out there like mine.

  • great news

  • Very interesting story. And congratulations!

Innocent is stretching it but at least his guilty conscience finally led him to do the right thing.

  • Message from Shaun Williams who had his bike stolen from on top of his car at our cross race on sunday. If anyone saw anything on the day, or sees the bike please email info@hernehillvelodrome and we'll pass the message on.

"I am writing to inform you that my bike was stolen yesterday while attending the London X League event no 11 at the Herne Hill Stadium. It was stolen from on top of my car some time between 11am and 11.35am.

The bike was a black Cannondale CAAD9 with American Classic 38 wheels rolling on Tubs and with egg beater pedals
The bike is very unusual in that it has Shimano STI levers while the rest of the bike is Campag. ( there is a small conversion cog by the rear derailleur called a shiftmate).

I would be grateful if you to keep an eye out for it.
Here is a picture of the bike. It did not have the powertap monitor or bottle cages on at the time. Only the American Classic wheels were taken since the others were inside the car"

  • The one you first noticed, and whom Innenzi challenged, has a new batch too. There must be a lot of these auctions around. I wonder if they give receipts.

  • fuckers !

  • Innocent is stretching it but at least his guilty conscience finally led him to do the right thing.

guilty concscience - hmm, if he didn't pick up the bike, the theif would still have it.

I think it seems like the buyer made a purchase that seemed to good to be true, then investigated and did exactly the right thing...its easy to hate on him for buying a stolen bike, but he got it back to the owner so its all good. the only fucker in this story really is the one who actually stole it.

  • Takes the stronger person to face up to their mistakes. Besides, its possible to buy something stupidly cheap without it being stolen.

  • All true. He did the right thing in the end which is what matters.

  • ^^^^^^^^I think it was it was bloody good of you to reimburse the guy as well. I suppose it was almost like paying a reward for the return of your bike, and that he might not have been keen to hand it over if you didn't but still, if they don't get the fucker you're still out of pocket when you shouldn't be.

  • +1...this story is full of christmas cheer.

  • My mate Tim's bike just got nicked in and around Victoria/Buckingham Palace Road SW1:

    all black custom steel Dolan
    Porteur bars and Hold Fast
    Grand mightys on Dura Ace
Open Pro on Goldtec for the front,
    Rear wheel was a Elipse.
    All Nito components

The best picture I got is the following, but when it was stolen it had Porteur bars.

  • More of the same; I had my Brooks nicked a few weeks ago, lock cut, was utterly furious (although now considering the prudence of replacing it)...Just a heads up in case anyone recognises the below:
