  • Cool cool, i always used to love the psychological stuff going on with lane draws in the 200m, lane 3 or 4 FTW!

I've only done a couple of mon nights but the one i mentioned before with the 3 man team sprint was right up my street. I'll definitely be up for Mon nights and Sundays come the new year.

  • Ditto will be getting hopefully new parts and maybe a new frame for the new year of HH =D

  • Not too long ago there were two track leagues at HH, an endurance one and a sprinters one. I know Rob has regularly talked about getting the sprinter's league back on the calendar.

That said, the Wednesday night track league regularly has a sprinters event or two, usually a one lap handicap plus the odd flying 200 metre time trial and, if you're old enough, the over 50s and women's sprint.

  • Fuck a doodle do

    631kg and Ross Edgar

I just posted that on the GRPT forum

  • Hanidcap lap and 200m time trial sounds right up my street :-)

  • Go to advanced training on Sunday mornings from 9:00.
RPM and the other HH sprinters do foucussed sprint efforts, standing starts, rolling efforts, and team sprint stuff. The sprinters and the endurance riders take it in turns to use the track their varied training requirements.
Sunday morning sessions are great, normally with no more than 15 riders in total. But they are not for the faint hearted..... they are hard work, and you need to be confident in your ability.

Also, get your race license and come to Wednesday night race league. there are some form of sprint races most weeks, and we do the handycap sprint every week too, which is fun. Wednesday night leaugue will also improve your fitness quickly.

  • Great stuff, cheers 'hoops!

  • OSR - i think you are wise to understand that the transition into cycling may not be as clear cut as many would think, but the fact is, you carry two key ingredients as a sprinter.

    1. Discipline and an understanding of hard work
      and
    2. Glutes that fire.

    Good luck mate.

  • If you can get to Reading, their programme is a little more sprint friendly- they run a 3 week rota with a 500m, a short keirin (bike swings off at 300m), and a derny race. The keirin and 500m are both great for the sprinters. Track is pretty pan flat of course which is not so good.

If you're keen on team sprint, try to find a club with a bit of depth in sprinters, not so easy but one can get left without a ride if your team loses riders owing to family commitments, illness/injury etc

The Sunday HH session is the one to make for training.
