While I obviously want to support one of our players, and while I don't know, I expect he probably did say something. Maybe that something is considered acceptable where he is from, he probably didn't mean it in a malicious way, at worst to wind up Evra (not justifying, just trying to empathise). But at the same time, we have standards in this country, and in any other public position, he would have been thrown out by now.
Liverpool will appeal, and the ban will probably get reduced, and in 6 months time everyone will have forgotten about it, but something about the whole thing leaves me with a nasty taste in my mouth, either my club is putting winning above what should be ethically right, or someone is cheating in an awful way. Neither should be the case.
